Scouting Report

Hope you are preparing for a wonderful holiday. I wanted to share with you this solid ball control, 2024 DS Sydney Hay from Union Pines HS North Carolina. With 150 digs, Sydney is a gritty DS and floor general that’s a difference maker on the court. A 3 year varsity starting DS and a major contributor in their 2022 season. She performs well in high pressure situations and rises to the challenge. Strong leadership and accountability; not afraid of hard work and puts it in. Plays with confidence, not easily intimidated, mentally tough and keeps things positive with a next play mindset. Sydney has a quiet platform, highly accurate on serve receive with good reads and range. Gets in to cover hitters quickly and is very vocal. Has a wicked low line float serve with velocity. You can count on her to earn a few points at the line. We have no doubt Sydney will be a difference maker at the next level. Sydney has a 4.34 GPA and is undecided on her major.

Acdemic Awards 

Classes taken/ taking; AP biology 2021-2022, AP language and composition 2022- present, AP United States History 2022-present. Clubs: -Leo’s club(2020- present) I’ve have accumulated at least 17 service credits.Local community service club -HOSA (2020- present) been to regionals 11/3/22 went to regionals and won 3rd place for job seeking skills competition. -National Honors Society (2022- Present)

Ball Control:
Excellent Ball Control. Right footed, but uses non-dominant foot well.
The kind of player who doesn’t lose the ball. Quick with her feet and
retains possesion well, even when tightly marked. Great passing skills
and teamwork. Receives passes with ease.

Long Passing:
She‘s a comfortable with the ball and when in deeper areas she has good
aim and excellent pass control. Long, well weighted air passes.

Short Passing: 
She makes a variety of short passes both in space and in a traffic with
both feet. Great vision, great aim. Smooth and accurate.

TACTICAL ABILITY
Vision
Shows good vision in her efforts at link-up play and in her passing.
She makes good decisions with regard to teammates. She is not a
passenger in the game; she has the ability to effect the final outcome
of the game. Great peripheral, keeping control and seeing ahead.

Makes good decisions off the ball by positioning herself. Weaves in
and out of defenders with ease. She brings teammates into the play
with quick combinations, helping create scoring opportunities
and leading by example.
